Event Description
To help new students better understand off-campus housing laws and protect their rights as tenants, the Office of Student Affairs organized the “2026 Freshman Orientation Elective Course: Bilingual Lecture on Off-Campus Housing Laws and Tenants’ Rights” on September 4, 2026. Ms. Yi-Yu Wu from the Legal Affairs Division of the TSUEI MA MA Foundation for Housing and Community Services was invited to deliver the lecture in both Chinese and English.
The lecture covered practical topics such as precautions before renting, signing a lease, rent and security deposits, repair responsibilities, early termination of a lease, and the handling of rental disputes. It aimed to help both local and international students develop a better understanding of rental laws, identify potential risks, and protect their rights and safety while living off campus.
