These resources are intended to help students develop a proper understanding of renting and reduce potential risks.
Students are advised to have a family member, friend, or classmate accompany them when viewing a rental property. Be sure to verify the landlord’s identity and check the safety of the living environment. Before signing a rental agreement, carefully review all its terms and conditions. Never transfer money or pay a deposit before viewing the property in person, in order to protect your rights and ensure your personal safety.
Rental Safety Tips
一、Before Renting
1.Ask a Friend or Family Member to Accompany You When Viewing a Rental Property.
2.View the Property Before Making Any Payment.
3.Check whether fire safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers and smoke detectors, is provided; whether the gas water heater is a forced-exhaust model installed in a well-ventilated area; whether emergency escape routes are clear and unobstructed; and whether surveillance cameras are installed around the rental property.
4. Before Moving In, Take Photos to Document the Condition of the Property.

三、 After Moving In
1.Practice Electrical Safety.
Avoid using multiple high-power appliances (e.g., induction cookers) on the same extension cord.
2.Check the Fire Safety Equipment.
Familiarize yourself with the location and usage of fire extinguishing devices.
3.Prevent Carbon Monoxide Poisoning.
When using gas water heaters or stoves, ensure proper ventilation indoors. Do not keep doors and windows tightly closed.
4.Familiarize Yourself with the Escape Routes in Your Rental Residence.
Know the entry and exit routes of your residence and keep pathways clear.
5.Strengthen Access Control.
For personal living spaces, consider replacing or installing additional locks as necessary to prevent unauthorized entry.
