Honor’s College Alumni Return to Cheng Building for Exchange Event

The Unchanging Cheng Building, The Eternal College Community

The Honors College at the Office of Student Affairs, National Taiwan Normal University, began its enrollment in the 104th academic year. Each year, approximately 40 admitted students are arranged to stay in the Cheng Building dormitory at the Gongguan campus, where they experience a communal living and learning environment, including shared sleeping, studying, and meals. Through college lectures, group discussions, high-table dinners, leadership camps, international exchanges, and other activities, the college promotes interdisciplinary autonomous learning among students from different departments to broaden their horizons. Over the course of three years of college community life, the students have developed very strong bonds. Under the planning of first-year college student Zhang Jiawei and second-year student Lin Yingyan, the "Return to Cheng Building" exchange event was held on June 22.

In the evening, teachers, graduate student tutors, and alumni from the college gathered at the multifunctional activity room in Cheng Building for a warm and meaningful exchange event. Most of the alumni have already entered the workforce but treasured this opportunity to reconnect, traveling from places such as Keelung, Yilan, Taoyuan, and Hsinchu to attend. A few alumni who were far away also participated in the exchange event online. The evening included a dinner, exchanges, and a farewell for Tutor Zhang Zhenxing, who is about to leave for the United States. The event also featured a small group learning and exchange session led by alumni senior He Jingyu.

Some of the alumni also took the opportunity to visit the dormitories where they lived during their student years, reminiscing about the wonderful college days. The event was originally scheduled to end at 8 PM, but the students were reluctant to part ways, and the goodbyes didn’t begin until 9 PM. Everyone agreed to organize a reunion for college graduates next year, continuing the spirit of friendship and collaborative learning fostered by Honors College.
