From January 1 to December 31, 2026, the Ministry of the Interior has commissioned the Legal Aid Foundation (LAF) to provide legal assistance and consultation services for residential tenancy disputes. Students encountering issues involving the return of security deposits, early termination of leases, rent subsidies, tax filing, maintenance and repairs, or other residential tenancy disputes may contact the LAF for assistance.
一、Telephone Legal Consultation
1.Legal Consultation Hotline: 412-8518, press 2, then press 6.
(For calls from a landline, dial the number directly. For calls from a mobile phone, add the area code 02.)
2. Service Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.–5:00 p.m.
3.Consultation Fee: Free. Standard local call charges apply. When calling from a mobile phone, please check the applicable rates with your mobile service provider.
4.Each consultation is limited to 20 minutes.
二、Legal Aid for Residential Tenancy Matters
Eligible residential tenants may apply to the Legal Aid Foundation for the following forms of assistance in accordance with the applicable regulations:
1.Telephone legal consultation.
2. Drafting of legal documents.
3.Legal representation, defense, or assistance in court mediation, litigation, provisional remedy, payment order, compulsory enforcement, or arbitration proceedings.
Applications are subject to eligibility and case-merit review by the Legal Aid Foundation. If an application is approved, the Foundation will appoint an attorney to provide assistance, and no application fee or attorney’s fees will be charged. However, applicants remain responsible for court fees, appraisal fees, postage, and other litigation-related expenses.
三、How to Apply
Legal aid applications are handled by appointment only. Applicants must schedule an appointment by telephone or through the Legal Aid Foundation’s official website and bring identification documents, the residential lease agreement, relevant mediation records, and any other case-related documents as instructed.
